I've been looking into this job lately and looking at it most statistics gather at around 14 or so dollars an hour starting (around 28-30k a year) so earnings are not high... but it also says that if you lovvvve animals that's payment enough sometimes :3
New zookeepers can expect to make at least $14 an hour. Zookeepers can move up within his zoo as a senior zookeeper or look to move to a larger zoo.
A zoo keeper generally has a set schedule of around 40 to 50 hours a week. Sometimes they work overtime when there is an emergency.
60000000000 dollars an hour
yeah because if you are a zoo keeper you take care of them while you study about them
Not really. You can work in any area such as Museums, Zoos, an Environmental Scientist for a mining company, DEC, etc. It all depends on what animal field of study you are interested in. Being a Zoology graduate does not necessarily mean that your only occupation is as a Zoo Keeper. One could simply pursue a TAFE Cert (need to contact the respective Zoo to find out which Cert is recognised) to become a qualified Zoo Keeper; as opposed to a BSc. Good luck!
At the zoo you could see different species in true life instead of pictures. You can see how they move, how they may interact with others of their species, see the different forms of food that different species eat. You can learn a lot from books and videos but at the zoo you can not only see the animals but you can hear them and smell them as well. You can also learn about the care and feeding of the animals that is required of the zoo keeper right from the people who do that job.
