There is not an average as such. The pay depends on the years of service and the grade (rank). Here is a link to the pay scale. However, since most are lower grades and less than 2 years of service the average will be skewed toward the lower grades and years of service. The lowest is E-1 with less than 2 years service at 1447 a month. But that is offset greatly by all the officers that have been in the service for a long time at the colonel level and above. There are more of those than need be. A colonel with 14 years of service is o-6 and makes 7538 a month. So let's guess the average is about 1/3 the distance between the two. Or about 3477 per month, 41724 a year.
