Well if you ask me, I think that killing someone for what they did is really stupid. I think this because it be a lot more cheaper to like keep someone in jail. Also if you keep them in jail the prisoners can think about what they did and feel guilty about it. But, if they did something REALLLY bad..then yea i say KILL THEM BAD SOULS! >:)
$70,000 - $75,000 The cost varies from federal cases and state to state: * Federal - $681,556 to a low of $1,613 * California - $90,000 per ($63.3 million for all annually) * Maryland - $37 million each * Washington - $700,000 * New Jersey - $11 million per ($253 million annually for all to house death row inmates, as New Jersey has suspended executions) * Kansas - approximately $2.25 million per * North Carolina - $2.16 million * Florida - $24 million (up from $3.2 million per between 1978 and 1988) These aren't even the biggest spenders, just the most recent information available on the internet. The bulk of these costs, also, are not actual inmate related costs but inflated facility cost, court costs, public defender costs, and wages for all involved--wages being the leader on the list. Why does execution cost so much? It has little or nothing to do with actual justice. Justice in America is worth what you can pay. Defendants in Federal cases who had the resources to pay in excess of $320,000 for their defense only face a 19% likelihood of conviction, as opposed to 41% who are convicted because they had to use a public defender. State statistics are similar (this is supported in the links below). Truth will not set you free; only money can do that.
It costs, on average 1.8 million of taxpayer dollars to execute only ONE prisoner. Of course, the actual costs varies by state, but 1.5-1.8 million is the average per prisoner in the United States.
With every death sentence there comes mandatory appeals. This is to insure that if any mistakes were made an innocent person will not be executed. Because of the backlog in today's courts, these appeals take years and cost millions of dollars to taxpayers. Most defendants do not have the resources it takes for this drawn-out process, and they must rely on public defenders. Attorney's fees, court costs, expert witnesses, forensic testing of physical evidence, subpenas to witnesses, D.A.'s investigations, travel expenses, are just a few of the many expenses that are involved in a capital murder case whether initially or at the appealate level.
I can't find an answer where someone is not using it as an agenda
The price of execution varies from state to state. When a person receives a sentence of capital punishment, the cost is approximately $470,000.
it cost $2 million dollars!
In the simplest form, about $1.50
The actual execution does not cost much, though it does require a considerable number of individuals to complete. Much of the cost comes from the legal system. Death sentences are often appealed, and the appeals can stretch out for years. The legal fees add up fairly quickly.
