Coming from someone who moves once every 2 years just about it for my husbands work I have learned many helpful things. Be sure to save up for: food, transporation to where you are going to be moving too, if you have belongings that will be shipped be sure to save up for that, rent or housing as well as money until your paycheck becomes steady again. I wish you luck because I know how stressful it is to move. Good luck and God Bless:)
I would really like to know the same thing as I am planning to move their myself. I am looking to save more than £800 / €800. This is the amount I would save to take with me when I have gone over to Greece for the summer - It'd cover me for spending money for 2/3 weeks or so and for a first months rent so I had that time to find a job - I know all jobs pay weekly over there and I could find work in a bar quite easily and rent is low and electricity practically non existent.
Amsterdam however is much more expensive for rent I'd say €350 a month for a room (min) and you'd prob need a months deposit and possibly references so you maybe need a job before you got an apartment. Also I'll be expecting to pay quite a lot for electricity coz its quite cold.
My plan is to book myself into a hostel for a week or two. There are a few hostels that will let you work for your board which will give you time to get settled, look for a job and an apartment. It all depends too on your qualifications and skills - If you are gonna walk into a job quickly or not - hostels are 15- 25 a night with their own kitchens so you can make your own food so depending on how long you want to gamble it takes you to get a job and if its a professional job you may have to wait a month for a salary....... There are a lot of depends in your question but for me (willing to live and work in a hostel and work in a bar) I'm going to want to be taking £1300 with me after I've booked flights and a weeks accommodation so €1500 really.
That totally depends on how long you're going, you're hobbies and how much you wanna spend yourself. You can go to some cheap restaurants or cook yourself, but either way you can go out and spend 1000 dollars on a bottle of wine. Just depends on what you want and have yourself!
A weekend in Amsterdam would depend on the quality of living one would expect to receive while staying there. The minimalistic idea can see themselves paying 75 British Pounds a day.
a lot

Here are some differences: - Manhattan is located in the United States while Amsterdam is located in the Netherlands - Manhattan weather in the winter months are generally the same as in Amsterdam, however summers are about 10-20 degrees warmer in Manhattan. - Manhattan has a much larger population and is also more densely populated - Manhattan is much larger in area than Amsterdam - Amsterdam is an older city - The mean elevation of Amsterdam is lower than that of Manhattan - The two areas have different time zones (Manhattan is 6 hours behind Amsterdam)
