It totally depends on the horse, and whether or not you mean the questionable "breed" called the Palomino or the color.

A Palomino horse (referring to the breed) isn't actually its own breed, at least officially. They're slightly uncommon to common, but the value depends on the parents, its health, records, and everything.

A palomino colored horse's value will even depend on the horse itself. There is absolutely no way to gauge a horse's value without the following information and more:

  • Breed
  • Age
  • Gender (mare, stallion, or is it a gelding?)
  • How trained/tame is it?
  • Its personality
  • Health
  • Health records
  • Competition history
  • Is it an easy keeper, or difficult to care for?

Just to name a few. A lot of things contribute to a horse's value, as well as the saying "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." A horse may be worth more to you than to the seller, or vice versa.

See the Related Links section for an Advanced Search of all listings of horses for sale on EquineNow. You can search for Palomino colored horses, but not the breed, to get an idea on how horses may be priced.

Well palomino is a color and not a true breed, so therefore it would depend more on the breed of horse, sex, age, height, bloodlines, and training that the horse has. You could get a palomino colored horse for most any price.

There is no average price. Price is affected by breed, age, sex, training, competition results, pedigree and location.

How much does the palomino horse cost?

Palomino is a color and quarter horses are breeds. So the price of a palomino Quarter Horse may be vastly different than a palomino Saddlebred. I actually have one too! Some are for free and some can be a lot! It depends on what they do and if they show what they usually place and classes they're in. Also who bred them and the temperament and a lot more!

Is palomino a breed?

The palomino is a breed and a color. The breed just has certain rules the horse must follow. like the parents must be palomino, and the horse must be a certain shade of gold, ect. The palomino as a color is just a golden color with a white mane and tail and dark skin, versus light pink skin, which would classify the horse as a champagne.

Are palomino horses good?

Hard to say because palomino is really more of a color. but you can register any breed of horse with the Palomino horse association as long as it meets their color and conformational requirements. the horse must be light. medium, or dark gold with no more than 15% dark hair in their mane, tail, or forelock. The idea of registering a palomino as a type began in 1936 when Dick Halliday registered his horse El Rey De Los Reyes who was a Spanish horse. no one really knows the story behind the name of the palomino name but Queen Ysabella De bourbon of Spain sent a Palomino Stallion and 5 brood mares to New Spain. now know as Mexico to improve the "new world". So people think it has some thing to do with that. I kind of depends on what you would want to do with it because as I said before, they are not really a breed so much as a type. you can get a Palomino horse from any breed. Quarter horse, Thoroughbred, Clydesdale. I hope that this helps! good luck on Search for your horse! ;)
