How much wet food should a cat eat daily?

Whatever food you feed, it is ideal to feed the kitten as much as it needs; kittens are constantly growing and developing so needs much more food than an adult cat.

Dry food, generally speaking, is not food appropriate for an obligate carnivore. Dry food contains no moisture, so is very dehydrating to an animal that has evolved to get water from their food. The amount of moisture in cat food is probably one of the most important parts of a cat's diet.

Dry food is more a convenience food for us, as it is easy to put in a bowl and leave for several hours. However, dry food is certainly not a requirement for a cat's diet.

Kittens and cats are carnivores. They get all their nutritional needs from meat. Kittens in particular, need a lot of Protein and Fat in order to grow and develop in a healthy manner. The best cat foods are the ones with a very high meat content (labeled as Chicken, Turkey, Tuna, etc.) as the first ingredient with no grains, wheat, or corn. A lot of dry foods contain a high amount of grains and cereals and rather low levels of actual meat in them. The cereals do not give any nutrition to the cat at all; cats have evolved to get their nutrients from meat-based protein, not plant-based protein, and thus many cats have trouble digesting such foods that include grains and other plants.

An adult cat needs either a heaping cup of dry food, or 1 large (5.5 ounce) can, or 2 small (2.2 to 3.0 ounce) cans of wet food a day. If you are feeding both wet and dry food (which I personally would recommend) then the cat needs 1/2 to 3/4 of a cup of dry food, and half a large can, or one small can, of wet food a day.

I have kittens and cats my vet says about 1 1/2 cup of a dry food, make sure their is no by products and that there is real meat in it for your kittens heathness!!
