Is super charge faster than turbo charge?

Roots or screw supercharger... spooling Abosultely YES. centrifugal like paxton, vortech, procharger, rotex it "spooling" depends... A supercharger is directly driven from the engine, and therefore delivers boost all the way through the rev range(roots or screw supercharger), improving bottom-end response, Centrifugal can give more boost in first gear than a turbo in first gear from a stop) at the expense of losing a few horsepower because of the load on the engine of the supercharger. A turbocharger uses exhaust gasses to spin up a turbine, which then drives an impeller, to compress incoming air, thus increasing horsepower. However, turbochargers are not very responsive at low RPMs, "taking sometime" to 'spin up', (really depends on the size of the turbo/turboes) this delay in speed, causes so-called 'turbo lag', where there is a delay getting the boost from the time you floor it, until u get boost. So, a supercharger may make a car 'quicker' from an idle start, because of its continuous boost(roots/screw supercharger), a turbocharger is better when it 'catches up' because it doesn't rob as much horsepower from the engine.

What is non positive displacement compressor?

compressor uses centrifugal force for compressing air is known as non positive displacement compressor- examples are vortech, paxton, pro charger, rotex, any turbo.

How supercharger works?

They are belt or gear driven air compressors. There are 3 types: Roots-GMC,Wiend, B&M, Eaton They basically move more air than the engine can consume, the extra air is compressed in the intake manifold creating boost. Instant boost, not eff. at mid/high boost <12psi. A lot larger than screw type for same power. Screw superchargers- Whipple, Kenne bell, lysholm - looks similar to a roots but are more efficient than roots and compress air internally. Instant boost good to 25-30psi boost. Last type is centrifugal- Vortech, procharger, rotex, etc. - mounts to the front of the engine(like a alternator) can use stock manifold, lighter/smaller than the others. They compress air internally. Their boost builds with RPM(example 2psi @ 3000rpms, 4 @4000, 6@5000, 8psi at 6000rpms). Can use air/air inter cooler like a turbocharger, other only have air/water inter coolers avail. Most can run max boost levels comparable to screw type(20-30psi) but some newer larger units can run up to 50psi.

How long will a supercharger last?

Depends on the how hard the vehicle is driven. 99% of all factory supercharged vehicles are using eaton roots type superchargers/Positive displacement. Eaton superchargers web site states, "they are designed to last the life of the vehicle". The only centrifugal (paxton, vortech, procharger, rotex type) factory superchargered vehicles (that I know of) are the previous keonisegg and the Alpina B7Centrifical superchargers. Eaton states that the oil in the gear case is designed for the life of the supercharger/doesn't need changing, but say if they are frequently raced 20k miles cahanges are ok. I know centrifugal types have problems with drive belt life, especially when pushing higher boost. Prochargers recommend 6k mile oil changes for thier self containted oiled superchargers.

What is a non positive displacement compressor?

Well it is very important factor in fluid mechanics. The term comes often in compressors and Pumps. Displacement means change of place( Fluid ), Positive displacement means at all points of operating the discharge will be the same where as the discharge in non positive displacement varies at various operating points. For clear idea on the above compare the reciprocating pump with centrifugal pump at various operating points (by throttling) discharge valve).
