The Australian dollar has been trading above parity for many months, and is expected to remain higher than the $US for some time further to come.

Therefore, as of 11 April 2012, one US dollar = $ 0.9749 in $A.

In the US, Australian Coins are worthless, as are coins of most countries. Banknotes may be exchanged at banks, and currently the $Aus is approx parity with the $US. Rates are available in the daily papers or at the bank. A good estimate for Australian to US currency rates (at any time) would be that 1 Australian dollar tends to be a few cents more than a US dollar (usually 1 Australian dollar is around 1.05 US dollars, give or take a few cents).
