The U.S. minted Eisenhower dollars in 1972. They were made of copper-nickel so if your coin is gold-colored it's been plated, and is only worth $1.

Note that ALL U.S. coins carry the word LIBERTY so it's not useful in helping to ID a coin. The date, image, and mint mark are much more useful.
