11/29/09- There are a number of misconceptions represented here. First, the gun you're asking about is a TEC-9, also sold as the KG-9. It is a semi-automatic pistol firing one 9mm round with each pull of the trigger. It is not a rifle or a "machinegun", as defined by the National Firearms Act of 1934. It has a barrel length of approximately three to five inches and feeds from a detachable box magazine that mounts in front of the trigger guard, giving it the look of a very short sub-machinegun (A fully-automatic weapon firing handgun ammunition).
The TEC-9 was manufactured and sold in the US from the mid 1980's until 1994 when it was listed by name on the Clinton "Assault weapons" ban. It was a cheaply made, highly unreliable and totally inaccurate gun that looked much more dangerous then it was. It was two to three times the size and weight of quality made firearms of the same caliber such as the Berretta 92, Glock 17, or Smith and Wesson 5906. A new variant, the AB-10, was offered as a "List beater" until the manufacturer went out of business in 2001.
It is reputed that the TEC-9 was easily converted to illegal fully-automatic (sub-machinegun), but I find this to be unsubstantiated. The thing would barely work as designed; I doubt it could have fired more than two or three rounds after such a conversion. It has made numerous appearances in movies and television, mostly because of their "evil" looks, and because prop houses could buy them cheap and make them work with blanks more readily than with live ammo.

Why would somebody ask, "How much for a gun?"
Why did you not ask, "How much does something that could benifit somebody cost?"
We live in a world of violence, and here you are asking how much for a Tech 9. I can truly imagine you sitting at a computer somewhere asking how much this costs, when you could be doing something else with your life.
-How about you answer his question instead of making fun of him and lecturing him about violence. Oh, I fixed your grammar and spelling as well. -Not sure about new, or anywhere in particular...Sadly the only one I've seen was in a pawn shop, for about $350 but really anywhere from $50 to $5,000
Do an internet search to find the answer.

A 50 calibre machine gun can have any length or width. The inside of the barrel is 1/2 inch. Gradually calibre as a gun size is being dropped in favor of metric. For example 9 mm is replacing 38 calibre. A 38 calibre pistol will shoot a 9 mm bullet. Mortars are now 61 mm instead of a calibre.
