On Friday, 24 May 2008, the market price of gold was US$924 per troy ounce, so 75 troy ounces of pure gold would be worth about $69000. An alloy such as 10 karat gold or 14 karat gold is worth much less; also note that the troy ounce is about 10% larger than the more familiar "avoirdupois" ounce.
