This response is going to vary depending upon what the college institution is. For example a private institution will probably be more expensive then a public college institution. For a private institution they rely on different factors to get money because they do not receive state funding. Private institutions rely heavily on tuition fees, grants, private donations to the university, etc. With public universities tuition fees are usually cheaper because they do receive state funding towards the university. Although tuition is important for both types of institutions, tuition costs and fees are more important to private institutions. So to answer your question tuition per semester is going to vary depending on the institution. However, the tuition and fees will most likely be cheaper in a public university. I believe that the first source listed below will provide you with good information as to the breakdown of how each type of institution receives their money and what serves as the foundation for how the institutions get their money. - Tari Librarian-to- be Sources: radioopensource.org/college-budgets/ & nytimes.com/2009/09/05/your-money/paying-for-college/05money.html

It depends largely on the specific college or university. However, the approximate cost for a program of study as a registered nurse is up to $20,000 at a community college (Associates degree). It is not the tuition that makes it expensive as much as it is the clinical fees involved. For example, at one community college I know of, the tuition per semester is about 1,400. However, the clinical fees for nursing are $4,000 plus per semester. At a four year college or university (bachelor's degree), the cost can be doubled plus.
Depending on the school you choose tuition will be about $2500 per semester.

The tuition/fees are changing as I write this, but these are the current fees/tuition for CSUF as listed on their web site. Undergrad 0-6 units 1,811.50 per semester 6 + units 2,837.50 credential programs 6+ units 3,230.50 grad programs 0-6 units 2,141.50 per semester 6+ 3,404.50 doctoral programs 5,645.50 per semester In looking at these fees/tuition I find it startling how much they have gone up. When I finished my BS there it ran me 90.00 a semester for 6+ units and my last semester in my MA only was about 500.00. I worked my way through college and don't think I could have paid for the tuition today.
