The value of a 1996 2 Dollar Bill is approximately $2. Their low value is due to the large number produced and wide availability.
The current one dollar bill has been basically the same since 1935. The front has the classic portrait of George Washington surrounded by '1' in each corner, the serial number, the series and other mint designations. The back has the word 'one' in the middle flanked by a pyramid on the left and an eagle on the right.
The Liberty Seated Dollar design replaced it. Historical Note = although all Gobrecht Dollars bear the dates 1836 - 1839, a number of them were in fact minted in the 1850s to the 1870s to satisfy collectors. These, however, still show the original dates of 1836-1839.
