I have been a welder for over 11 years. For the last 6 years I have been an aluminum tig welder exclusively. A good tig welder can expect to earn $20-30/ hr. A good entry level salary would be $12-18/ hr. There are some positions, such as the aerospace industry that may pay a lot more, and conversely, there are small fabrication shops that pay a little less. The small Fab shops are a great place to learn the skill due to the wide variety of work they perform. After a few years in a Fab shop, you'll be ready to move on to the higher paying jobs.
