How much money do you get for being in the army?

Depends on the rank. Lower enlisted (E-1 to E-4) with under two years of time in service will make under $2,000 a month. As rank and time in service increases, so does pay. Note that some soldiers might have dependents (e.g. children, spouse) and will be paid extra.

The typical US Army Soldier, lower enlisted ( E1-E4 or Private to Specialist/Corporal ) have a base pay, and benefits pay.

An E4 with 2 years in has a base pay of 2014 dollars a month, taxable of course, plus benefits to include free housing, separate rations ( at the commanders discression), BAH if you are married, which varies greatly from place to place. Being stationed over seas, to include Kuwait, Italy, Korea, Japan, and other peace keeping missions have Cost of Living Abroad (COLA) which also varies greatly.

Soldiers get paid by direct deposit in a checking account that you yorself establish, on the 1st and 15th of each month. It depends on your time in service and current rank, most individuals who enlist in to the Army enlist as an E-1 PVT, however you have the opportunity to get 2 promotions prior to leaving for basic training, ask a local recruiter for more details.
