Everyone writes at their own pace! You will take as long as you take to write, so don't worry about it. Nora Roberts is a very fast writer, and usually publishes several books in one year. Jim Butcher tends to write one book every year or so. Start writing and see how long it takes!
Having imagination, it takes you an hour to write a paragraph that, if you were unimaginative, would take you only a minute. Or you might not write the paragraph at all.

Books are typically published through a traditional publishing house or through self-publishing platforms. Authors submit their manuscripts to publishers, who then review and select the books they wish to publish. Once a book is accepted, the publisher handles editing, design, printing, and distribution. Self-publishing platforms allow authors to publish their books independently by providing tools and services for every step of the publishing process.
Well, a book is published in two or more ways. The first way is that you can do it yourself, whoever asked this question. It's hard and difficult. You'd have to set up your own business and all that. But on the good side, you get all the profits if your book is any good. The second way is to hire a literary agent. Go to writing websites if you must. One of them I know is Writer's House. That's how Stephenie Meyer, author of the Twilight Saga, got her books published. You have to send query letters, excerpts and one synopsis or two of your book to the literary agent. If they like it, they'll ask for the first three chapters usually. If they like that part, then they'll ask for the whole manuscript. And if they like THAT, then you got yourself an agent. So your agent will set you up on book deals and you both negotiate to choose the best one. Then, once you've chosen, your LA will send your story to en editor, who will perfect it with your permission. Keep in mind though, they'll try to take out parts that you like so you'll have to know how to debate well. Then you may or may not get to choose how your book is put together. Then, once everything is done, your story or whatever it is that you were working on gets turned into actual books and is stocked in many bookstores, most likely all around whatever country you live in --
and that is how a book is published. ;)
The book publishing process can be either formal and commercial, or personal and private.
In the formal and commercial world of book publishing, a writer crafts a manuscript which a publishing company acquires. (The acquisition process is a separate answer to a separate question.)
Once acquired by the acquisition editor, the manuscript is vetted and polished. This process might include fact checking, a structural re-arrangement of the concepts and ideas (this process is especially useful for non-fiction manuscripts), and a grammar and spelling proofing process. In some cases, the editor and the writer collaborate to re-write or recast some of the manuscript. This is true of both fiction and non-fiction manuscripts.
Some of these processes take enough time that the time lapse between acquisition and publication can be close to a year.
At some point the manuscript is converted into a digital form, so that the text can be 'worked on'. The publisher's art department chooses a type font and size, page size, book size, paper weight, cover and binding type, all depending on how the publisher chooses to market the manuscript.
The publisher decides on a marketing strategy for the manuscript -- now called a title -- so that the appropriate distribution channel, marketing programs, and author promotional tours can be defined and finalized.
Once the marketing strategy is defined, the publisher decides how many copies of the book to print.
On a specific date, the book is printed and shipped to bookstores and other elements in the distribution channel, and the book is considered published.
In the personal and private world of publishing, an author can collaborate with a technology-rich vendor to publish a book privately. In this situation, the author can pay for as many of the steps described above as s/he chooses.
In this case, all business choices necessary to get the book onto bookseller's shelves, or onto e-book lists, are made by the author.
It depends on the publisher, but on average, about 20 months. Remember, when a writer signs with a publisher, they are put on the back end of a publishing schedule that might project as far as into the next couple of years. A publisher can only budget so many books per year, both time-wise and money-wise. Then, with editing, designing, marketing, printing, it can take a while once the publisher actually gets to your manuscript. Printing itself can take 4-6 weeks, sometimes longer. There is some good news. It is in the author's best interest that it can take this long. Compounding the schedule too much only promotes errors. I like to encourage authors to think about it this way: your publisher wants to make sure your book is the best it can be. This takes time and dedication on their part as well. If they didn't care about it, they'd rush the job and publish a sub-par book. Here is a tip that might work with some smaller publishers: If there is a conference or some event that would be a good place to sell a lot of books, tell your publisher about it as soon as you know. Many times they will do the best they can to accommodate. They won't want to miss out on a good marketing opportunity! If you really need your book published in a few months time, I would say self-publishing is the only way to go. But beware, in the end you probably won't sell as many books, and they won't be of the best quality.
A novel useally needs to be at least 50,000 words, although at least 70,000 is probally what you should be aiming for, and it useally should'nt have more than 140,000 or 150,000 words, any more than that and you should consider doing a sequal.
You can publish a book on Barnes and Noble or Amazon for free. If you would like hard copies, publishing a book can be expensive. For 2300, you can usually self publish. If you sign a contract with a publishing house, it won't cost you anything.
There's no easy answer to this. One book might take a year to produce while another is designed and printed in three weeks. It is sensible to allow at least three months for the process – six months is even better. And before all that, you need to write the book!
It depends how long it takes you to write and edit the book
While there is no real answer to your question, many authors plan to write a page a day.
