The knock sensor is located in the block, under the intake manifold. You have to basically remove the top end of the engine to get to it. The pigtail which connects the sensor to the harness is usually the culprit. It is notorious for failing but after spending all the time and money for gaskets I would recommend replacing the sensor as well.
It takes a socket tool to remove the sensor. auto zone will sell you the tool to replace it with and refund your money for the tool when you return it
save money and let the local shop rip you off!
Not Always, On A few nissans, I have found that the problem was actually the harness and not the sensor. This may save you a bit of money!

newer cars do have knock sensors.. I have a 2001 xterra with the 3.3L v6 and the knock sensor is located underneath the intake manifold.. you might want to get a good repair manual or copy some pages out of one at the local library to help you figure out how to do it yourself if you plan on doing it. I'm about to change mine this weekend after i get some money together for the sensor and new intake gaskets.. this thing is making me go broke!

hi, my friend the cost to replace the oxigen sensor depends if you go to the Nissan dealership is about $120.00 for one oxigen sensor or you can go to the discount auto parts, will cost $70.00 and it's easy to replace. you can do yourself and save a lot of money!! but make sure what sensor is not working because your Nissan pathfinder have 4 oxigen sensor. one before the catalistic and one after the catalistic. but Nissan pathfinder have two catalistics.
If the old oxygen sensor is no longer functioning properly and you replace it with a new one you will certainly save quite a bit of fuel.
