I honestly can't give you a dollar amount figure, but your settlement amount should be based on the "amount of disability rating" you received from a rehab. evaluation clinic or doctor. In other words before your incident, if you were in perfectly good health your "ability rating" (whether for shoulder or back etc.) would be 100%. Now you have had your surgery/sugeries, you will be eventually sent to a rehab. / physical ability evaluation center. They will put you through an exhaustive battery of physical tests to "measure" and record your present physical ability. As a result of these physical tests if they determine your shoulder / rotator cuff ability has been reduced by 20%, your rating is "20% loss of use" disability. This "rating" equates to a dollar amount that is also tied to the rate you were being paid before the "incident occurred". This amount is calculated by some formula that Workman's Comp. has assigned to each body part, factored by your "disability rating". A personal note: The "amount of disability rating" I, was given according to the Workman's Comp. doctors and their evaluation center was "10% loss of use of my back", their formula said that equated to a $18,000.00 settlement. I eventually hired an attorney he had me evaluated by another doctor, my rating from this doctor was "20% loss of use of my back" and my final settlement with the international company was for $64,000.00. One of the areas this law firm specialized in, was in Workman's Comp. cases.

You would need legal advice for this. Many people go through the physical therapy and surgery, if needed, and go on working. Medical is paid by Workers Compensation and if there is a disability it is dealt with later.
