A puppy will nurse from its mom until roughly 6 to 7 weeks. If the Mom is not nursing her pups at 4 weeks something is wrong with the mom, get her to a vet immediately.
After the pups are 6 weeks you may offer them baby cereal in the morning made with goats milk, NEVER regular milk, not skim, only goats milk or puppy replacement. At lunch and dinner mix a little canned pedigree for puppies with warm water, make sure its for puppies. Feed them this in a VERY shallow dish as they will fall into this and could possibly drown.
When giving water depending on the size of the pup, it should be no deeper than half the size of their nose.
Remember, these pups are like babies, you need to use your head.
I THINK UR QUESTION IS WHAT U HAVE TO FEED A 4 WEEK YEAR OLD PUPPY. YOU SHOULD FEED IT PUPPY CHOW CUZ ITS STILL A PUPPY OR OTHER PUPPY FOOD BUT PUUPY CHOW WILL GIVE THEM DIARIA IF THATS HOW U SPELL IT.THIS HAS BEEN WRITTEN BY A 11 YEAR OLD GUINES PEACE
If the mother is still nursing, you can supplement by feeding about 3-4 times a day with dog food. You need to soak the dog food in warm milk until it is soft and mushy. They don't have the jaw strength to chew food until they are about 6 weeks old.
They can go awhile, around 8 hour
They can NEVER go 8 hours! They need to nurse every 2 to 3 hours. They need 1 cc for every 3 oz of body weight.
Just like a human baby, about every 3 hours
They should eat atleast 3 times a day. 2cups of food each time.
you can feed 3 to 4 times a day. it also depend on the breed.
you should feed it three times a day if it isnt hungry for that many times count how many times it eats.

my friends staffy has had a litter of pups but we can't seem to get the last born pup to feed from her what should we do.

depends how old the pup is.. when they are ready to start eating they should be fed morning an night :) hope it helps :)
A healthy normal 8 week old pup should not have flaky skin. I recommend you take your pup in to be checked out by a Veterinarian. The pup should be dewormed and put on a good name brand of dry puppy food, not a cheap generic food. Feed the pup twice a day. Make sure he or she is up to date on their vaccinations and on a monthly heartworm preventative. This is one of the many good reasons to take your pup (along with a small sample of his or her feces to be checked for parasites) to the Veterinarian.
you should feed the 2 day old pup every 3 to 4 hours 24/7 or it could starve. Each time you feed it feed it until it will no longer drink the formula.
Your pup can be weaned as young as 4 weeks of age. Ideally the pup should remain with his or her Mom up to 8 week of age but if she is ignoring the pup, then wean the pup. Do not let the pup nurse off of its Mother, so her milk can dry up. Feed the pup a good name brand dry puppy food. Soften it at first with warm water, feed 2-3 times a day, all that it can eat within about 10 minutes, pick up any left over food. As the pup gets older, feed it the dry puppy food without it being softened with water.
You should feed your dog twice or three times a day so they won't go hungry. ;)
In my advice, you shouldn't because I think that the baby pup should get used to the mother for a couple of days or a week. Hope this helped!
