As much as a salt water crocodile can.
The Crocodile is spread throughout much of the world, ranging from the southern states of America (the American Crocodile) , to the River Nile (Nile Crocodile) and Australia (Saltwater Crocodile). Crocodilians are almost exclusively found in warm waters and in tropical climates
Humans have eliminated the saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus) from much of it's former range through a combination of hunting, habitat destruction and general persecution.
According to researchers, the nile crocodile is actually as big as the swamp crocodile or American crocodile pretty much in length and weight. Both males can exceed 20 ft long and weigh as much as 1 ton or over.
The freshwater crocodile of Australia and some other Pacific areas is smaller than the saltwater variety and is generally a fish eater distinguished by long slim jaws and fine teeth. The Australian saltwater crocodile is said to be the most dangerous of all the crocodile species with big specimens attaining a length of 6 metres or more. They will eat anything from a cow to a cat! Sadly, humans have also been taken by them at times.
The saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus) can be found in the ocean but the species spends the vast majority of it's time in the tidal river systems, which are influenced heavily by saltwater. But they can also be found very far inland (up to 250 km or more) in purely freshwater ecosystems. The hatch-lings require freshwater to survive, so these are not "true" marine species. In addition, the American crocodile (Crocodylus acutus) of Mexico, Central America, South America, the Caribbean and the tip of Florida is just as tolerant of saltwater as the saltwater crocodile and is also found at sea on occasion (hence it's distribution throughout the Caribbean on Jamaica, Cuba and Hispaniola.) This has led people to mistakenly refer to this species as the much more aggressive "saltwater crocodile"(Crocodylus porosus) of Asia, Australia and parts of the South Pacific. It is important to note that many crocodile species (NOT alligators & caiman) display some level of saltwater tolerance. The Nile crocodile may occasionally swim out to sea and is common in many coastal estuaries in Africa.
The average size of a healthy mature male Crocodylus porosus (saltwater crocodile) is around 5 meters (16.5 feet) in length. The largest they grow is somewhere between 6 & 7 meters (20 & 23 feet) although the largest ever accurately measured was nearly 21 feet.
There are two species. The Estuarine, or Saltwater Crocodile which is the worlds largest living species, and the Johnstons Freshwater Crocodile. There is also the Pygmy Freshwater Crocodile found usually in the escarpment areas of Arnhem Land, but tests indicate that it is the same species as the Freshwater Crocodile. It is believed it has much less food availability and is the reason it remains smaller.
Oh, dude, technically speaking, a crocodile could potentially kill a moose if the circumstances were just right. Like, if the moose wandered into the water where the crocodile was lurking, it might have a shot. But let's be real, that's a pretty unlikely scenario. Like, I wouldn't lose sleep over it if I were you.
The average length of an adult crocodile is around 13 to 16 feet. However, some species of crocodiles, like the saltwater crocodile, can grow up to 23 feet in length.
