11,000-horsepower
Its not quite that simple. Nitro engines REALLY like to run against a load. And its hard to load somethng that is developing over 5000 lbs/ft of torque. Max torque probably happens between 6200 & 6500 rpm at about 6000 lbs/ft. The figures are only estimates because no one has ever figured out a way to measure such a violent display of power. They figure its more than 15 horse power per cubic inch.
in excess of 8,000 horsepower. it is so powerful that there isn't a dyno on the planet that can accurately measure it. A top fuel engine has more hosepower than 8 NASCAR cars, in other words it produces more power out of one cylinder than a complete NASCAR race car.
The average Compression ratio for a top fuel dragster is about 6.5:1
Todays NHRA Top Fuel Dragster ( TF/D ) and Funny Car's ( F/C ) Classes both make between 9,000 & 10,000 Horse Power. Zero to 100 in Aprox. 1 Second.
