Your car should produce about 14.4 volts from the alternator when the engine is running. If it does not produce anything over 12 volts, your alternator is not charging and you need to get it repaired or replaced.

If we are talking about cars only: the system that charges the 500 volt battery in a Hybrid is a Alternator. So in theory there is no limit. Most cars are "12 volt" (common usage, incorrect) systems.
Check the voltage with a volt meter at the battery with the engine running at idle. You should read 13.5 to 15.5 volts. Any less and the alternator is not charging properly.
This will still only produce 12 volts. It will produce 1200 watts. watts is the result of Volts times Amps.
Battery keeps running down when you are driving. Your battery light should be on if the alternator is bad. Check the voltage at the battery with a digital DC volt meter set to the 20 volt scale. You should read from 13.5 to 15.5 volts with the engine running at idle. If not the alternator is suspect.

The alternator should be putting out between 13.5 and 16 volts on a good alternator with the engine running as measured with a DC volt meter at the battery posts. Any less or any more and the alternator is defective of the belt is slipping.
Alternator is sending to much volts to battery. Suppose to turn itself off when battery gets to around 13 volts. May need new alternator.
Purchase a power inverter.
