Philatelists usually like any type of stamp. Some specialize in Italian stamps, others World Wide. If they are not interested in it for their own collection, perhaps they can trade it for something they do like.

The stamp has to be accepted where you mail the letter. If you are mailing in Canada, you need a Canadian stamp. If you are in the US mailing to Canada, you can use a US stamp.

Canadian Scott #913 This is one of the most popular Canadian Stamps. Its beautiful engraving combined with a high face value gives it some value. A mint copy in good condition can bring $40 to $50 at auction. A used copy can bring in $5 or so. The stamp also appears on a reprint 60 cent stamp.
The cost of a First Class US postage stamp in 1971 was 6 cents. It was raised from 5 cents in 1968. In May of 1971 the cost was raised to 8 cents.
You use the postage of the country of origin, in this case, you would use Canadian postage.
