A young growing pig needs a lot of fresh water. THey at least need twice as much water as they consume in feed. If they eat two gallons of feed, they need at least four gallons of water. A large hog who is eating 12 gallons of feed will need 24 gallons of water. While hogs will wallow in mud to cool off, they need fresh clean water to drink. In "olden days" they would hang out in the springs where they could stay cool and drink all the water they wanted. They also have a need for playing in the water and keeping their nose cool. A sow feeding a large litter will need a lot more water than that as she is producing up to 30 pounds of milk a day.

The average sheep will need about 4% of their body weight in hay alone, so if you have a 100 pound sheep, it will need 4 pounds of hay a day. If you are feeding small lambs, dry ewes, pregnant ewes, or rams each will require a different feed ratio, it is best to talk to your local veterinarian to work out a feed schedule that will best fit your sheep.
