Probably 3 to 10 times the weight you plan for it to carry.

Will the bridge be only for people? For cars? For Trains?

How long and how wide will it be? The longer and wider it is, the more people, cars, etc. that will fit on it.

The one I built in high school took 16 kg to break

I have driven a 42,000 pound bus over the Golden Gate Bridge in San Fransisco.

There can be any number of answers to this question. It can depend on several factors.

  • What material is the bridge built from
  • Is the bridge arched and at what angles
  • What architecture was used (suspension, beam, cantilever)
  • The height, length, and thickness
