It cost me $185.00. That includes $85 for new reservoir tank and coolant & $100 labor.
The low coolant fluid sensor on a 2004 Saturn Ion is located in the coolant reservoir tank. It is typically mounted on the side of the reservoir and is responsible for detecting the coolant level. To access it, you'll need to remove any necessary components to reach the reservoir, as it may be obstructed by other parts in the engine bay. Always ensure the engine is cool before attempting any maintenance.
200 bucks tops with parts and labor.
any ford dealer can get you the parts you need, also most auto stores can get them for you
About 200$ for parts and labor
Check the coolant reservior for any leak. 1. If there is leak, try to stop the leak by A). go for coolant reservior replacement from dealership or from junk yard used part dealer. B). Stop the leak by putting adequate glue (i.e. glue which could sustain high temp) over the leak area. 2. If there is NO leak, it is probably a bad sensor, a known problem according to the Mazda Parts Dept. Replace the reservoir which includes the coolant sensor. They are sold as one part.
Not a good idea to add water. You should add an engine coolant available from any auto parts store. You should never remove the radiator cap when engine is hot! Wait until the engine has cooled down then remove cap. Fill radiator with engine coolant, replace cap and then refill coolant reservoir. That procedure will get you to a garage where they will find out why it overheated in the first place.
$800.00 parts and labor
About $150.00
replace engine coolant sensor, cooling fan relay and relay wiring. Parts are about $100.- total. Easy to replace, or have your mechanic put the parts in, maybe $50.- labor.
You have to consider part and labor, water pump, should come w/gskt . Most good techs will also replace thermostat, chk cond. Of hoses coolant rad and heater core. 4 hrs labor @ $100.00 per aprox 100 in parts, Most likely close to $500 when Its over
Depending on labor rates in your area, aprox $200 parts and labor.
I have a 2003 that has that same problem. After dealing with this issue for a year, I finally took it to the dealer and they determined that it was the coolant cap. So they installed a brand new cap and the coolant light hasn't come on since it was installed, just over a month. Another possibility: The sensor in the coolant reservoir has been known to go bad according to Mazda Parts Dept. The sensor and reservoir and sold as one part. I replaced mine and the light went off.
