An Irish parliament's term is 5 years, but an election can happen before that. Not all parliaments run their full term, so elections often happen sooner than that. There were 3 general elections in 18 months in the early 1980s.

Presidential elections are normally every 7 years. A president of Ireland can only renew their presidency once, so they can serve for 14 years. After that, they can not take part in the presidential elections again. If there is no one to oppose them, they could serve their second term without having to go through an election. The president is the head of state, but not the head of government, so there is no link between presidential elections and general elections.
