How often you run antivirus software depends on how much time you are on the web and the number of "unknown" sites you visit. I normally am on the web 2-3 hrs a day and visit the same websites on a daily basis and have my antivirus software set to automatically scan once a week.

∙ 13y agoMost anti virus programs do a automatic scan at a set time, which I would recommend to set to daily. Usually they will do this in the background. It is recommended that you do a full system scan every 1-2 weeks!

∙ 13y agoThe bare minimum is once a day. I wouldn`t consider it practical to check more frequent than every 10 minutes.
Having said that, it depends how often your antivirus software makes updates available.
