A baby yellow spotted salamander is a tadpole and it will eat algae continuously. If there is no algae, you might be able to keep it alive with bits of lettuce. The key word is "continuous". Take out the old and replace it with new. Keep the tank clean and cool.

once a day is recommended but i usually do it everyother day and leave crickets in the cage so he has something to occupy his time with.

stock there tank or cage with food until its out of food then re-stock, and feed them bugs, frogs/tadpoles, and worms.
