Hawks (and all Birds of Prey) learn to fly very young, typically only a few weeks old. They are usually fully grown at about 12 weeks and ready to leave the nest and live independently. The parents will then usually produce another brood (unless the season is too late by then).
They can actually fly as babies, but they choose not to because they would rather not take dangerous risks.
It varies with the different species of hawk, but some can live upwards of 16 years, or even more than 20.
