How old are fifth years at Hogwarts?
Fifth year students at Hogwarts are fifteen years old. Most students will turn sixteen throughout the school year.
Neither. A high school covers 9th grade (14 years old) through 12th grade (18 years old). A college goes beyond those grades. Harry and his friends are 11 years old. (6th grade, for Americans) years old. They "graduate" when they are 17 years old (8th grade). So they are at Hogwarts from middle school through high school.
Tom Riddle is said to have opened the Chamber of Secrets in his fifth year at Hogwarts. This would place him at 16/17. The Chamber of Secrets is opened again, 50 years later when Harry is in his second year at Hogwarts. This would make Tom Riddle/Lord Voldemort 65/66 during the first book of Harry Potter.
Witches and wizards under seventeen years old are considered underage wizards and are not allowed to use magic outside of Hogwarts. Harry especially cannot use magic as he lives with muggles. Indeed, he is almost expelled for using magic in front of his cousin. He can, but before he is an adult - 17 years old - he is not allowed to do it.
Is it wrong if you is nine years old and in the fourth grade and your dating a guy that is eleven years old and in a fifth grade?
