What are facts about spiral galaxies?

milky way is a spiral galaxy spiral galaxies have younger stars in the arm and older stars in the middle

Do spiral galaxies have young stars middle age stars or old stars?

It has all types of stars with different ages

Do some spiral galaxies contain 1 trillion stars?

Yes. Some spiral galaxies do contain at least 1 trillion stars.

Are spiral galaxies stars small?

some are big.

What do spiral galaxies have a nucleus of?

A spiral galaxy nucleus contains a mass of stars in a "bulge" and is thought that many contain supermassive black holes at the very core of the nucleus.-In galaxies with tightly wound spiral arms the bulge generally contains old, red stars with low metal content (called population II stars); whereas galaxies with more loose arms generally have younger, blue stars (called population I stars). Some bulges have similarities to the elliptical galaxies and others are similar to disk galaxies.-Evidence of supermassive black holes have been discovered in many galaxies and theorized to exist in many more galaxies (at least the larger ones). Our own Milky Way Galaxy contains a supermassive black hole at its core.

What are similarities between elliptical and spiral galaxies?

While spiral galaxies are bright, elliptical galaxies are dim. Spiral galaxies are hotbeds of star formation, but elliptical galaxies aren't nearly as prolific because they contain less gas and dust, which means fewer new (and brighter) stars are born

What do the arms of spiral galaxies contain?

(Atoms) Stars, Dust.

What are the waves that are produced by stars and galaxies?

Density waves (they cause the spiral arms in disc galaxies).

What is a galaxy that has a dense core of stars and has spiral arms called?

All galaxies have a dense core of stars. Spiral galaxies, however, have arms that are often visible. There are two kinds of spiral galaxies: barred, where there appears to be a line running from arm to arm through the core, and ordinary, where there is no bar.

How old are barred galaxies?

Barred galaxies per se do not exist. They are just a sub category of spiral galaxies of which about 2/3rds are barred spiral galaxies.

Large groups of stars that are part of spiral galaxies?

Milky way!

What galaxy has the youngest stars?

Most new, young, stars can be found in the arms of spiral galaxies
