16 i think My mum graduated at 15 (many years ago). She always said that in England students could take a test and go from grammar school right to secondary school. In America it would be testing out of junior high. I still have a lot of family over there, so I will ask and let you know. RM
In the UK education is compulsory for children between the ages of 5 and 16 but you do not have to go to school to be educated. if you are in school you can leave at anytime but you need to be removed from the school register - your parents simply need to give the headteacher a letter telling them that your name is to be removed from the register as you are being educated elsewhere. You are then free to arrange your own education as suits you and your family.
If you prefer to stay in school then you will not be able to leave until the last Friday in June during the academic year in which you become 16.
You leave after you've done your Gcse exams ut u still may need to come back in school to finish your exams (youll only stay half a year)
Usually in Year 11 (circa 16 years old) or Year 13 (circa 18 years old).
