So far I have discovered that, the authentic versions began (c) 19 thth century beginning around 1898 and possibly being more mass manufactured upwards of pre-1920 etc...
I do know that any serials starting off with 3***** and UP, are definitely post 19 Th century @ the beginning of the 20 th century... MEANING THAT THOSE WITH THE SERIAL BEGINNING WITH A 299546 & DOWN ARE DEFINITELY PRE - 1900. "MIJO AND I HAVE DETERMINED THAT THE 'KNICKERBOCKER DOUBLE BARREL {SIDE BY SIDE} BREAKDOWN 12 Ga. He purchased is a GOOD THING!!!
SERIAL BEGINS (13**46) AND yes it has the New York Arms on the right side"....

There is no way to determine the gauge without seeing the gun. Assuming it is one of the standard gauges, you can measure the inside of the barrel. 12 gauge is .729", 16 is .662, 20 is .615, and a 410 is .410.
I have a 16 gauge double barrel for sale.
