The oldest living goldfish in the world are Koi (singletail) most likely due to the fact that they are (normally) housed in large ponds. Although there are many fancy goldfish that live a long time, Koi surpass them in longevity.
I heard this from someone. Though it is unbelievable, goldfish, if tooken care of well, can live up to 25 years! I have heard of a goldfish that lived 50 years! I cannot imagine my little one inch goldfish living for THAT long. =)
Tish the fish, in England, lived to be over 40 years old......he is the longest living goldfish on record
"The world's oldest captive goldfish lived for a full 43 years. Tish the goldfish, recognised by the Guinness Book of Records as the world's longest living goldfish was won as a prize at a fair. Upon dying peacefully in his bowl in 1999 he was buried in a yoghurt carton at the bottom of his owner's garden. Peter Hand won Tish, along with another goldfish, Tosh, playing roll-a-penny at a fair in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, in 1956. His parents took on the fish after Peter married and left home. Tosh never made it as far, only living until 1975. In 1998 the fish took the world record title from Fred, a Worthing goldfish who died in 1980 aged 41."
There is no record kept of the "oldest Goldfish" but I have known them to live for over 20 years.
It was about 26 and half year old
goldie age 44

Goldfish originated from the Anjafish that lived mainly during the Jurassic period
Goldfish were breed to be pets, they have never lived in the wild. Some people do set them free into rivers and streams, they generally get parisites and fungal infections and do not survive long.
43 years old
