Evidently old enough to understand God's instructions and to responsibly carry them out and old enough to understand right from wrong. Apart from this we can only guess. I would say personally somewhere between 20 and 30, although of course, he was not actually that old. Since Adam had no mother to care for him, both he and Eve, the first woman, were created at a mature enough age to care for themselves.

AnswerI think that he was created without knowledge, and that he was created as a man, and not as a boy or baby. And we (Muslims) say that he lived 1000 year.

Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet pbuh said,

"Allah created Adam, making him 60 cubits(I think this is 30 meter) tall. When He created him, He said to him, "Go and greet that group of angels, and listen to their reply, for it will be your greeting (salutation) and the greeting (salutations of your offspring)." So, Adam said (to the angels), As-Salamu Alaikum (i.e. Peace be upon you). The angels said, "As-salamu Alaika WA Rahmatu-l-lahi" (i.e. Peace and Allah's Mercy be upon you). Thus the angels added to Adam's salutation the expression, 'Wa Rahmatu-l-lahi,' Any person who will enter Paradise will resemble Adam (in appearance and figure). People have been decreasing in stature since Adam's creation. Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: "The best of days on which the sun has risen is Friday. When Adam pbuh was sent out of paradise, Adam knew he bade farewell to peace and he left Paradise. On earth he had to face conflict and struggle. No sooner had one ended than another began. He also had to toil to sustain himself. He had to protect himself with clothes and weapons and protect his wife and children from the wild beasts. Above all he had to struggle with the spirit of evil. Satan, the cause of his expulsion from Paradise, continued to beguile him and his children in an effort to have them thrown into the eternal hellfire. The battle between good and evil is continuous, but those who follow Allah's guidance and should fear nothing while those who disobey Allah and follow Iblis will be damned along with him.
