AnswerWe know nothing about the lives of Mary and Joseph, other than what we find in The Bible, and even this is somewhat contradictory. Matthew's Gospel says that Joseph's father was called Jacob, while Luke's Gospel says that he was called Heli. We do not even know the names of Mary's parents, although one Christian tradition is that they were Saints Joachim and Anne. Apart from this, we know nothing of their early lives.

If, like most people of the time, they were born in the same town in which they met and lived when they were married, then they could have been born in Bethlehem (Matthew's Gospel) or Nazareth (Luke's Gospel).
