June 7, 2008. Yes, Bob is still alive and well at 90 yrs. We had dinner with he, his lovely wife Patty and friends last night. Bob has completed a book on the history of Alaska Airlines and is off on a book signing tour. He still has a very sharp mind, great sense of humor and an unequaled knowledge of the airline industry.

Rod's brother? Well, it's good to know he's still alive and kicking. Dear Rod. He's been dead for some time. You remember how he always had a smoldering cigarette between his fingers? Every waking and non-waking moment? He'd practically been smoking since birth. I think he was concieved with those smoking butt in his mouth. They were his very undoing. Well technically, he was in the hospital for surgery for a cigarette-related illness and.. well, the doctors dropped the... uh, scalpel.

Thank the baby Jesus we still have Robert. I guess he stayed away from those damn cancer sticks. Good on ya, pal. One Serling is good enough for this world. I just hope that when he does eventually go, he leaves a legacy as big as his brother did.

You get the idea. Sad, isn't it? There's an anti-smoking message in there somewhere.

My father passed away yesterday May 6, 2010 at the age of 92.

Sincerely, Jennifer Serling
