In Numbers 13:25-33 we read that 10 of the 12 spies sent up to the land by Moses reported that the people there were too strong for the Israelites to overcome.

In Numbers Chapter 14 we read that nearly all the people were frightened and rebelled. Joshua and Caleb had confidence that they could do it with God's help. As a consequence, in Numbers 13:29-30 God told them that none of those then present from the age of 20 and upwards would enter into the promised land except Joshua and Caleb and that they would wander in the wilderness for 40 years. From this we can calculate that except for Joshua and Caleb, all the Israelites who entered the promised land were no older than 59.

It is not known. ==== The Bible never gives an exact amount of Israelites that entered the Promised Land. The Israelites wandered 40 years to reach the Promised Land, out of all of the Israelites that left Egypt, only Joshua and Caleb were allowed to enter the Promised Land. The rest were to wander and not allowed to enter. The only other Israelites that were allowed to enter the Promised land were all of the Israelites that were under the age of 20 years old.

How old was Joshua when he took Moses' place?

Joshua died at age 110. He conquered the land for 7 years. He divided the land for 7 years. That would make him 96 years old when he took over for Moses. However there's no clear information how long he lived after conquering and dividing the land - so he may have been younger. ----- Reese Chronological Bible complied by Frank R. Klassen (Bethany House Publishers, 1977) indicates that the Israelites entered the Promised Land in 1422 B.C. (Joshua 1) and that Joshua died in 1372 B.C (Joshua 24:29). If this is true, this means that Joshua was in the Promised Land for 50 years. Since Joshua 24:29 says he died at the age of 110 years, this would imply that Joshua was 60 years old when he entered the land. Also, he would have been 20 years of age at the time he gave the good report to the nation of Israel. This agrees with Numbers 11:28.
