Q: What is a midget?

A: In some circles, a midget is the term used for a proportionate dwarf. However, the term has fallen into disfavor and is considered offensive by most people of short stature. The term dates back to 1865, the height of the "freak show" era, and was generally applied only to short-statured persons who were displayed for public amusement, which is why it is considered so unacceptable today.

Such terms as dwarf, little person, LP, and person of short stature are all acceptable, but most people would rather be referred to by their name than by a label.

Q: What is the definition of dwarfism?

A: Little People of America (LPA) defines dwarfism as a medical or genetic condition that usually results in an adult height of 4'10" or shorter, among both men and women, although in some cases a person with a dwarfing condition may be slightly taller than that. The average height of an adult with dwarfism is 4'0, but typical heights range from 2'8 to 4'8.

midget is only a slang for a short person. Not a medical term!

There are varying standards even medically, but one definition restricts "dwarfism" to those who are under 4 foot, 10 inches tall (147 cm).

Medically a midget is four feet to four feet 11 and 3/4 inches tall and perfectly proportioned in the limbs, spine, neck and head. You have to have been born that way, not shrunk down to that size from aging to qualify as a midget.

Who was the first midget?

The term "midget" is considered outdated and offensive. There is no single "first" midget, as being a person of short stature is part of human diversity. It is important to use respectful language and emphasize equality for all individuals.

The difference between a dwarf and a midget?

My search showed this info: The dwarf is a medical term for the person with an extremely short height of less than 147 cm ... Midget is a slang word used for a short person that suffers from proportionate dwarfism. Dwarfs suffer from disproportionality of body parts. Midgets only are short in height with all rest body parts in normal form.

How short do you have to be to be considered a midgit?

The term "midget" is considered offensive and outdated. The preferred term is "little person". Height is not a determining factor for being a little person as it is a medical condition called dwarfism that defines it.

Who is taller a midget or a fidget?

Well it varies by region, but typically fidgets are much more active, hence the name, and that leads to less atrophy in the leg and neck muscles. They are limber nimble little turds and often harass dwarves/gnomes. Considered a nuisance by most, Fidgets, on average, are usually 2-4 inches taller than your standard midget. Hope this helps!

What are midget tribesmen?

"Midget" is considered to be a derogatory term and is not appropriate when referring to individuals with restricted growth. Additionally, the use of "tribesmen" can be culturally insensitive as it generalizes and stereotypes groups of people based on traditional practices. It is more respectful to use terms that are neutral and focused on individual identities.
