- Well, I've caught different kinds of snakes out where I live, and Garter snakes seem to be the friendliest of all. Except for one time, I've never had to worry about a Garter biting me. That was only because someone made it mad. So, I've never had to hold one behind the head. Most of the time, I can just lay it over my shoulders. :]
