First let me say that the chicks should remain in the incubator until they are fluffy and dry. If you have a whole group of eggs in the incubator try not to open it up until they are all hatched.

By the time they are all fluffy and dry they can begin eating and drinking.

A baby bird is usually fed within hours, because you see when they are born they came out of a shell where they couldn't get food or nutrients therefore they would be hungry, and tired.

How does an alligator breed their babies when they are born?

An alligator does not feed its babies. As soon as a baby alligator hatches, it must start looking for its own food. As long as it looks for food in the vicinity of the mother, the mother will eat anything that tries to eat her baby but other that that, the baby is on its own.

What do you do when you find a baby barn swallow?

The best thing to do if you find any wild bird that's 'apparently' been abandoned - is to leave it where it is. The parent bird WILL be close by somewhere, and will rescue the baby as soon as it feels it's safe to do so !
