Anglican Catholic Answer!

Charles in my opinion was a very kind and compassionate King!

The trouble was he was dealing with men who were power hungry and hard, who held to a cruel religion and didn't let their principles as christians get in their way of achieving it.

He would have made a good king if he had the chance to express himself. In the eleven years of his personal rule he governed wisely and well with that period being characterised in history as a Halcyon.

For a real understanding of Charles read, Clarendon's, History of The Rebellion. Esp, Vol,1.
