Why Frigidaire stackable washer and dryer not washing or spending?

check your electric supply. maybe you dont have the full 240v to the unit. if only one "phase" (120v) the dryer wont tumble and washer wont run. only the dryers heater uses the full 240. if only the washer is out after checking power, check the lid switch if its bad washer will only do what it would with lid open. These are the most common problems

Why does an Asko Washer Dryer Combo trip the breaker?

The USA Asko combo series runs on 110V, which is unusual for a clothes dryer. A USA dryer usually runs on 220V and has its own dedicated circuit breaker, but the Asko can run on a standard household outlet which probably shares a breaker with other outlets in the house. A clothes dryer takes a lot of current. According to the specs on most Asko combos I looked at online, your unit probably uses close to the maximum current your breaker can handle. If you are using other electrical devices at the same time, you will blow the circuit. It may even be the use of overhead lighting if it shares the same breaker. One more thing on Asko: According to many of the online reviews, the 110V combos have a tendancy to have overheating problems in the wiring when using both washer and dryer simultaneously. I would suspect that this is due to not cleaning the lint screens, so be diligent. A dirty lint screen causes the dryer to work extra hard and draw more current.

Need to buy a 220V clothes dryer and plug into a 110V outlet A can an electrician rewire or B will a transformer work and C know it will be inefficient but will it be safe?

This isn't an answer- it's from the questioner :) Just to clarify: This is the small, apartment-sized, stacked washer-dryer unit. They used to commonly come in 110V. They are still out there but old and sell for same price used as the used newer 220V. So we'd like to buy a newer used 220V and convert if possible and safe. Don't know the watts on these, tho. But must not be as large as regular sized dryers?

If you use a surge bar for the washer and dryer can you save electricity by turning off the surge bar?

Answer for USA, Canada and countries running a 60 Hz power supply service. I have never seen a surge bar that has the availability to connect a 30 amp circuit on it at 240 volts. These types of appliances use a dedicated circuit directly connected to the electrical panel. The washer usually has a 15 amp dedicated breaker and the dryer being 240 volt has a dedicated two pole 30 amp breaker. Maybe, but likely not significantly.Older equipment does not generally use power when they are turned off and this action does not save power. Some new equipment never turns off. This is especially true if it has a timer for delayed start. There will be a small power drain even when the unit appears to be off. However, turning of the unit will result in these features not working and potential reset of the setting each time the unit is shut off with the surge bar (power strip). The amount of current will generally be small in any case. That being said, during extended periods of absence (vacation), shutting down the equipment may be desirable despite the shutdown of the advanced features.

What is the electricity voltage in Germany?

220/240 volt (double that in the USA). The critical thing to know is the frequency. In the States it is 60 Hz and in Europe is is 50 Hz (Hertz). This is important because anything with a motor and a power cable will be frequency dependant. Leave any device at home in the US when traveling or moving to Europe as it will not work if the motor is a 110/120 volt motor. For example, Washer Dryer, Refrigerator, Hair Dryer. Thing like a tape player, stereo, CD Player with a wall plug will work fine because inside the 110 unit it converts all electricity to a DC voltage so a typical voltage convert from 220 to 110 will do fine with these devices. On the other hand an item like a Hair Dryer is a 110 volt motor and cannot survive a 50 Hz attack and will burn up. You can by voltage converters in Germany when you get there.

Is A Stackable Washer Dryer Unit Right For You?

Many people who live in small apartments or homes forgo doing laundry at home due to the lack of space for a laundry room. This is where a stackable washer dryer unit might be an option worth considering. The ability to do laundry at home without having to spend time at a Laundromat, pay for laundry services or borrow laundry time from friends and family is something most people would like to have. There are a few things to consider before you decide to purchase a stackable washer dryer unit for your apartment or small home:Space-the space in which you plan to put the washer dryer unit needs to be measured accurately in order to ensure the unit will be able to fit there and function properly.Cost- examine your budget carefully to decide how much you can responsibly spend on the stackable washer dryer unit. Compare prices and performance to ensure you get the best deal for your money. Also think about how your power bill will go up at least a bit if you have not had laundry services in your home until now.Laundry- consider how much laundry you have to do on a regular basis. You will not be able to do large loads of laundry in the stackable unit, therefore there will be more loads in order to complete your laundry chore. Typically these stackable units work best for single people or couples with minimal to moderate laundry amounts. If you have access to free laundry facilities at friends or parents homes and do not mind the time it takes to go there and do your laundry, perhaps buying a stackable unit is not something you want to spend your money on. If you are paying for laundry services, you can likely reduce both the cost and the time you invest by putting one of these units in your home.By taking the time to research and compare stackable washer dryer units, you can find one that will fit in your allotted space, that is affordable for your budget both in purchasing the unit and paying for the increase in your power bill and one that will suffice in terms of your laundry load size. Most people living in small spaces are glad to find a stackable washer dryer unit and do not mind the small load sizes necessary.

How To Properly Install A Stackable Washer and Dryer Unit In Your Home?

Determine Where You Will Place Your Stackable Washer and Dryer The most important step to installing a stackable washer and dryer unit is to determine where the unit will be placed. You will need to measure out the area that you would like to install the stackable washer and dryer appliance. There must be a hot and cold water connection, drain and adequate watt outlet for your washer and dryer unit. For space saving ideas, some people install the washer in closets, bathrooms and other small areas. This is fine as long as there is enough space for safety and proper usage. You will need to give consideration to the doorway areas, ceiling clearances and whether or not closet doors will need to be removed to fit the unit in. Consideration should be given to whether or not there is enough clearnace for the washer and dryer doors to open fully without ruining the unit or surrounding doors or walls. Measure the door ways that your unit must pass through to get to your desired installation destination within your home. Read Installation Instructions Thoroughly Before you begin installing your stackable washer and dryer unit, you should read through the manufacturer’s installation instructions that will come with your unit. Make sure that all of the packaging that may be stored within the washer and dryer is completely removed prior to using. Not doing this can cause damage to the stackable washer and dryer unit. Installation and Connection of Washer To begin the installation of your new washer, you will have to connect both the hot and cold water lines to the machine. The standard hose valves of the washer should be connected with the filter washer screens facing outward. Attach the water hoses to the water supply lines. Hand tighten the washers on the water hoses. Using a pair of pliers finish tightening the hoses with a %C2%BC inch turn. Never over tight then hoses or washer, check for leaks in your lines and the water supply pipes before pushing the unit into place. Your drain hose for the washer should be 2 inches in diameter and should be designed to fit within the standard 2 inch drain pipe. The drain hose should have a trap that is build in and located in a higher position than the water level will reach. Installing the Dryer to your Stackable Unit You should allow four inches of clearance behind your dryer unit for venting when installing the dryer. To connect the dryer’s exhaust system, you will need aluminum pipe with wrap joints and duct tape. Plastic vents and metals screws should not be used on the vent joints. When constructing your dryer venting system, use as straight and short of a pattern that you can. You will need to drill your vent hole. Using tin strips, cut your venting down to the proper size needed. It is very important to adjust the legs on your washer and dryer unit when necessary to level the appliance correctly. This will help to prevent damage being done to your stackable washer and dryer unit. You will need to slide or walk your unit into its desired location.

What would make a washer on a stackable unit not work if the dryer does?

Does the washer not work at all, or does it just not work when it's trying to rinse? It may be a lid switch. If the washer does not work at all, it may be the timer. Pull the timer from the unit and check to see if any of the "fingers" are stuck, sticking, or burnt. If so, change it. The timer is the "Brains" of the washer... it tells it when to start, cycle, & stop. Sounds to me like this is more than likely your problem. The washer allowed water to be drawn in and then went to "L".
