Stonehenge is enclosed within a circular ditch 300 ft in diameter. Stones are arranged in four series within the circle. The outermost is a circle of sandstones about 13.5 ft high connected by lintels. The second is a circle of blue-stones. The third is horseshoe shaped. While the innermost is ovoid. Within the ovoid lies the Altar Stone.

The Outer Sarsen Circle:
Is 30 squared uprights of different sandstone are arranged in a true circle about 100ft in diameter. Each stone stands about 131/2 ft. above the ground and is about 7 ft. wide. The space between adjacent stones is about 3 1/2 ft. The average thickness is about 3 1/4 ft and the smoother of the two faces is the one turned towards the inside. The uprights support horizontal stone lintels its flat top is about 16 ft above the ground. Each lintel is some 10 1/2 ft long, 3 1/2 ft. wide and 2 3/4 thick.
Outer Bluestone circle
The size of the stones varies. Most are 6 1/2 ft or a little more high, 3 1/4 to 4 1/2 ft wide and some 2 1/2 ft thick.
Inner Sarsen triathlons
They are arranged in a horseshoe shape about 45 ft across. The northeast pair are about 20ft tall, the central pair are taller, and the southeast pair are 24 ft high.
Inner Bluestone horseshoe
The shortest is just under 6 ft high and they increase in size towards the Southwest.
The Alter Stone
This is on the ground and is about 16 ft long. It once stood upright and now is snapped into two.
