How the 4 warrior clans came to be?

The warrior Clans were just a lot of cats with 5 different atributes such as swimming for RiverClan, or hunting in the trees for SkyClan... or running quickly for WindClan, and that kind of stuff. So when there was this prey shortage the groups of cats ( including Sky, Thunder, River, Shadow, and WInd,) had a big battle, this wasn't jsut a skirmish! Fourtrees was all bloody and the spirits of their dead friends and kin came and told them to unite or die! So there were 5 clans now... The fifth clan, SkyClan, was driven out of the forest when Twolegs came and turned their territory into what is now the Twoleg place rusty/firepaw/fireheart/firestar came from.... In the 2nd part of the series when the cats go on that journey the meet a group of cats in these mountain called The Tribe of Rushing Water. They sheltered the traveling cats and later in the series the Tribe cats need help from the Clan cats. The Tribe's StarClan is called The Tribe of Endless Huniting. It is called that because in the Clans when a cat dies a Clanmate might say "He hunts with StarClan now". So that is where that term came from. If you dont read the warriors i recomend it. Read On!

There is a better version of the story in "secrets of the clans," but this is pretty much how I sum it up. Warning: may contain spoilers!

Long ago the only cats that existed were rougues. Each had claimed some territory in the untamed forest, but each territory overlapped each other. cats disputed over borders quite often because of this, and many cats died.

On a particualarly bad fight, one that went on for countless days and nights and had shown no sign of stopping, more cats died than usual. Blood soaked into the ground, turning it red. All the surviving cats collapsed on the ground during the nighttime, and slept where they fell, wanting to be ready to fight again in the morning.

But with a flash of light, suddenly there were more cats among them, their pelts shiny and silver. They were the first starclan cats, the ones that had fallen during this bad fight. They told the survivors that this madness could not go on, and that if they wanted to live, they must unite.

A she-cat named Shadow spoke up. "If we are to join, then we must have a leader! I will lead the clan!" Four other cats, River, Sky, Thunder, and Wind, disagreed. Eventually it was worked out that these five cats would all be leaders, and that there would be five clans, not one.

And the bloodshed became less and less. True, there were still border fights, but it didn't matter as much. Cats are given teeth and claws for a reason! But the clans have always been better off than their ansestors, so long ago.
