you play low e and with you thumb u pinch the back hole with your thumb but you keep the fingering for the low e the same but all u have to do is pinch the back thumb hole with your thumb only half way and that is how you do high e on the recorder i hop this helped
Half of the hole on your left thumb and then 1,2,3 for your other fingers on your left hand. 1 and 3 on your right hand. Unless you have a left handed recorder, then the hands are reversed.
You play High D, then add your left ring finger, right index, middle, and ring fingers.
You play High E, then take your left index finger for High B.
Normal e (normal e is first 5 holes covered+back hole) but cover half of the back hole.

Left thumb hole slightly open, Left fingers cover holes 1, 2 & 3; Right finger covers hole 2 (aka finger 5). May take some practice adjusting the left thumb and/or blowing pressure.
