There's really only one good way of doing this. All other ways are hacks. Even when specific makes and models have special tools, the best way is to use an impact gun with an air compressor that is powerful enough to power the gun (one that can generate at least 4.2 SCFM @ 90PSI). Rather than buying all this equipment...which will cost you, you can rent this stuff. Home Depot will rent you the compressor at $28 for 4 hours (free if your neighbor has one). Make sure you have hoses, fittings and stuff for the compresor to connect to the gun. Go buy an impact gun (unless you can borrow from your buddy) that will do at least 350-450ft/lbs torque and get yourself an impact socket for the correct size of the bolt. You don't want to use normal sockets for this job. It has to be impact sockets so get one of those for $15 (usually 26mm or 27mm) Might as well get yourself a crankshaft pulley puller while you're at it. Once you're done with it, you can return the compressor, impact gun, socket and the puller. Sometimes, they give you crap about returning a special tool like the puller so you might have a 15% restocking fee or store credit. In any case, your total cost would have been $28 and maybe #25 for the puller if they won't take it back. You can always sell it on ebay. Impact gun is the way to go. In fact, they have ones that look more like a wrench with 600ft/lbs of torque and don't stick out as much. With those, you don't even have to remove the radiator. How's that for time savings? Totally worth it. Save time and your tiring back and you can keep the radiator coolant intact unless you're also planning on swapping out the water pump, thermostat, (aka 100K service).
