remove wiper arm by swinging the lock ring out of the way.
Remove the inner panel. Unplug the wire connector. Mounting bolts for the motor are obvious.
Mine and many others have jammed in one position. I did a post-mortem and ended up repairing it instead of replacing. The internal gear axle slips out of the bulge in the housing little by little every time you slam the liftgate. It eventually jams the internal mechanism.
The fix is to slightly pinch the casting bulge with a vise-grip to make a tighter friction fit. Then drill a tiny hole in the cover plate opposite the bulge, and drive the axle back into the bulge with a nail or rod. If you are lucky, the motor will not have overheated and burned. I was lucky. Good as new for another 10 years.
