The front wheel bearings the new style (1999 to 2008) Chevy 4wd trucks come as an assembly only - the bearings themselves cannot be replaced - assembly includes the complete hub, stud bolts, ABS sensor/pickup... Basically fool proof, but expensive - $425 as of 9/1/2007... Good news is, it is easy and quick to install - remove the wheel, unplug ABS wiring, remove the four bolts holding the hub/bearing assembly on - the assembly has splines and simply slides off.(may need a little coaxing to get it broke loose) Assemble in reverse - complete job only takes 30 minutes to an hour, depending on experience level, and tools available... Good Luck...
Front or rear bearings? 2 or 4 wheel drive? year of truck?
you don't. buy a new wheel hub
you can't replace just the front wheel bearings, they are sealed so you have to replace the entire hub assemble and it will cost approximately $130 each side.
How do you change the wheel bearings on a Chevrolet aveo 2005
Need to know if it is 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive.
No.
With the correct tools
2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive? It makes a difference.
sorry to have to tell you this but the bearings are part of the wheel hub and sealed within. you need to change the entire hub. $$$$$$$
If the truck is a 4 wheel drive, you can't repack the front wheel bearings. It has a sealed hub/bearing assembly that is not serviceable.
Bearings are dirt cheap-never install a used one.
To replace the wheel bearings on a 2002 Chevy Tracker, first, lift the vehicle and remove the wheel. Then, remove the brake caliper and rotor to access the wheel hub. Use a hub puller to detach the hub assembly, and then remove the old bearings from the hub. Install the new bearings, reassemble the hub, rotor, and caliper, and ensure everything is securely fastened before lowering the vehicle.
